Timestamp Bookmarks for YouTube
Summary
We don't collect, store, or transmit your timestamps. They're saved on your device and sync via Chrome (not through us). The only data we store is your email and licence key if you purchase Pro.
What Data We Store
Timestamp Bookmarks for YouTube stores the following information:
- YouTube video IDs - To associate your timestamps with specific videos
- Video titles - So you can identify your saved videos
- Timestamps - The time positions you save within videos
- Labels - The names you give to your saved timestamps
- Licence status - Whether you're using the free or Pro version
All your timestamps are stored on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. If you're signed into Chrome with sync enabled, your timestamps also sync across your devices using Chrome's secure sync feature (the same system Chrome uses for bookmarks and settings). This sync is handled entirely by Chrome - no data passes through our servers.
Usage Analytics
To improve our extension, we collect minimal analytics when you install or uninstall:
- Install events - When the extension is first installed (tracked via the help page that opens)
- Browser type - Which browser you're using (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera)
- Uninstall events - When the extension is uninstalled (you'll see an optional survey page)
- Uninstall feedback - Optional reason category if you choose to provide feedback
This data is anonymized and used solely to understand which browsers to prioritize and how to improve the extension. We don't track your browsing activity, usage patterns, or create user profiles.
What We Don't Do
- No browsing tracking - We don't track which videos you watch or what you do on YouTube
- No usage tracking - We don't monitor how you use timestamps or which videos you bookmark
- No third parties - We don't share data with anyone
- No ads - We don't serve advertisements
- No accounts required - The free version works without signing up for anything
Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following permissions:
- storage - To save your timestamps locally on your device
- youtube.com access - To display the timestamp interface on YouTube video pages
We request only the minimum permissions needed for the extension to function.
Chrome Sync
Your timestamps automatically sync across your Chrome browsers via Chrome's built-in sync feature. This works the same way as your bookmarks and browser settings - it's handled by Google's infrastructure, not ours. We have no access to this synced data.
If you prefer not to sync timestamps across devices, you can disable Chrome sync in your browser settings. Your timestamps will still be saved locally on each device.
Purchases and Payments
If you purchase a Pro licence, payment is processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you make a purchase:
- Stripe receives: Your payment details (card number, billing address), email address, and name
- We receive: Your email address (to send your licence key) and confirmation that payment was successful
- We do NOT receive: Your credit card number or full billing details
We store your email address and licence key in our database to validate your Pro licence. This data is:
- Used only for licence validation and customer support
- Never shared with third parties (except Stripe for payment processing)
- Deleted upon request if you email us
Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.
